Does India have the bowling to do well in the WC?

Your Views

Name: Raj
Message: They are not good enough to win the world cup. Batsmen will have to take 90% of the responsibility to win the world cup.

Name: Bino Sebastian
Message: What I think is to involve Irfan Pattan to the remaining one day for the on going serive vs W. Indies. To me best combination would be Srinath, Zahir, Banger or Agarkar, Harbajan...the fith spot have to be shared between Ganguly, Sehwang & Sachin. I think Ganguly have to be in touch with the bowling, with his slow medium it would pay a big trick more often

Name: Tariq Salam
Message: WIthout Zaheer khan & Indian bowling is just like Kenya's

Name: Fahim Momin
Message: Apart from Zahir Khan, no other Indian Bowler seems consistant. Agarkar needs more work on his line & length. This is the time when Indian Selection Comm. should look for other youngsters like Balaji, Irfan Pathan etc. so that teams can be well balanced.

Name: Subir Basak
Message: Bowllers will play an important role in this WC. But we don't have that kind of bowling.

Name: Siva Ram
Message: No, India is not having the good fast bowlers except Zaheer khan. In that side we have to invent some new guys and improve the strength of the indian team.

Name: Swargam Krishna
Message: No, I dont think so. We should probably look for more young , Energitic Seam Pace Bowlers for the WC

Name: nidhul raj
Message: According to my point of view India have got a very good bowling attack if and only if it goes with some changes down the order. If the indian selectors play Ajit Agarkar,Zaheer Khan& Javagal Srinath with the attack and also be well asisted by the pace of Ganguly & Bangar/Sodhi.Besides Harbhajan gives a good helping hand.

Name: VAIBHAV DESHPANDE
Message: YES! SURELY ALL THE WORLD KNOWS ABOUT THE POTENTIAL INDIANS POSSES AND ARE AWARE OF IT AND I THINK WE WILL DO IT THIS TIME. BEST OF LUCK FROM ME TO THE INDIAN TEAM FOR THE WORLD CUP 2003 AND I AM WAITING FOR THE CUP

Name: Tanuj Rastogi
Message: I think its nothing more than wishful thinking to say that India can win the world cup. With the kind of bowling it has, it will be impossible to even reach the finals. Although Zaheer Khan is shaping up as a good bowler but apart from him no other bowler has been performing well in last one year to be called consistent. Although Harbhajan Singh has been bowling well but it is difficult to imagine him perform consistently well in South Africa. Agarkar is only capable of bowling three good balls in an over and will bowl rest of the deliveries wide and short. Srinath is no more tha bowler he used to be and he should not be trusted to win matches for India. Even if the pitches in India are suited for batting still there can be no excuse in being unable to defend the score of 280+ three times. So, I will just say to my fellow Indians that if you don't want to be disabppointed then please only hope that India makes to the Semis. I trust out batsmen but our bowlers (except Zaheer and probably harbhajan) can't bowl even if their life depended on it.

Name: Anurag Gulati
Message: Indian do have the bowlers who can win the WOrld cup but the question lies in the consitency of their performance. On a good day Agarkar, Sehwag, Ganguly, Tendulkar, Srinath can be devestating but that good day comes once in a blue moon. We do need bowlers better than Srinath, Nehra and Kumble. Zaheer, Harbhajan and Agarkar are the only hope now because we do not have better choices. I wonder how Indians will discover good bowlers before the WC. MAy be they have a triumph card hidden that will be disclosed only on the D-day.

Name: Priya
Message: No, our bowling skills arent sufficient and as mentioned, there isnt any amount of consistency. We definitely need to improve on this to a great extent.

Name: sriram
Message: I don't think that we are having good bowling attack. But our team spirit is high right now. I belive this will makeup an ordinary bowler as a good bowler.

Name: Prasanna Krishna
Message: I feel India has to get some more good blowers in the team. I feel Kumble will be kee in WC. The way Ajit and Nehra are blowing in current series, it is high time to look at mohanthi and others. Why can't prasad is tried again??

Name: Sanjay Mishra
Message: should have three fastbowler choosed from Zaheer,Agarkar,Srinath,Nehra and one spinner from Bhaji,Murali kartik.Other member of the team should be like this sehwag, sourav, sachin, dravid, juvraj, kaif, bangar.

Name: sahil malhotra
Message: i strongly feel that zaheer khan is gonna be the spearhead of the bowling attack... as far as spinners are concerned, not much assistance would be provided from the pitch. still, i feel, that the spinners might do a restricting job. but if india has to go for the kill they need a second zaheer khan. and at the momment i dont see ashish nehra or agarkar doing that job. the battin i feel, is on top and can take on any bowling attack in the world! lets keep our fingers crossed, and hope for the best! good luck INDIA!

Name: sandeep
Message: it's pathetic... we need to work very hard on it.

Name: ravindra singh rawat
Message: zaheer khan is a nice bowler

Name: mansoor
Message: zaheer khan is very important key bowler for indian team in the world cup

Name: wamsi
Message: Zaheer, Nehra and Harbhajan can be a tough challenge. Srinath is a question mark. Ajit need to be more consistant.

Name: navaneethan k.
Message: india will try again the world cup.bowlings are very worst.battings are normally one.improve the all batsman.bowlings are improve.chance of well in the world cup in india.try it!

Name: Shibu Mathews
Message: With this bowling team, it's better if India don't waste time & money going to SA. Agarkar bowls like a kid who is trying to learn bowling. Nehra, it seems, has no idea what is line & lenght in bowling. SA's ground will be supporting pacers than spinners. If I remember correctly there was a pace bowler in the under-19 World cup winning team with Yuvaraj Singh. Some Srivatsava. Where has he gone off to? For tat Under-19 WC he was the best bowler I had seen. If the BCCI had nutured him from then onwards, then now there would have this much problem. Anyway the full blame goes to BCCI for being so stupid.

Name: AJIT&NOAH
Message: INDIAN TEAM SHOULD DEVELOP THEIR FEILDING POSITION AS WELL BATTING & BOWLING LINE

Name: Vijeet Rathi
Message: The answer is surely not until and unless they have a good strike bowler.

Name: Ajay
Message: Though I do not think that India has the bowling that would be able to restrict the scoring or take 10 wickets of any opposition, the Indian captain does not seem to think alike. India has been desperately looking for an all-rounder. They have been neglecting Bangar for one-dayers as his scoring rate is too low. But look at his scoring rate in last two matches (4th and 5th one dayer). So as far as batting is concerned, he seems to be fine. Much better that Agarkar. But how many overs did he get to bowl? One over in each of the matches! I agree theonly over he bowled in each match was not impressive and he gave away too many runs. But what figures did our other bowlers return with in these matches? We have not been giving fair chance to some players and some others get too many chances. Agarkar has played 105 one-day internationals and he is yet to prove himself. Bangar has played just 5 one-dayers and he has shown his skills in last two matches. Regarding his bowling, you can not assess much as he has bowled only 26 overs in 5 matches he played.

Name: Manish
Message: Frankly No.. The present series is a disaster as far as the bowling department of the Indian team is concerned.. I wonder what happened to the so-called high-profile committee to prepare sporting pitches in India.. The pitches are mediocre from a fast bowlers point of view.. And we cannot really blame the bowlers for the poor performance.. A wicket-taking delivery can become a rank bad ball on the pitches where we've been playing so far..

Why can't we have an LOI at say bangalore or at mohali where the pitches are conducive to fast bowling, or are we just happy with winning one or two series, instead of concentrating on the world cup preparations.. Besides the selection committees decisions are baffling.. Everybody knows that we need good bowlers for the upcoming series.. So why not use the first four matches of this series to experiment new bowlers.. I would have 4 different bowlers each for the first 4 LOI's and select the best 4-5 bowlers for the rest of the series and persist with them through out the world cup..

And try to improve them with rigorous training for the next couple of months.. Competition is always good.. and nobody should be taking his place for granted in the world cup squad.. Besides, we in India boast of the MRF Pace Academy and the NCA.. When are we going to give those guys a decent chance to represent the country.. India should be good in all the departments of the game..

You cannot only rely on batting.. If we rely too much on our strengths, it can become a weakness which the opposition would be happily exploiting.. Also the public comments made by dignitaries like kapil dev "India can now dream of winning the world cup" should be refrained.. We all know that even the west indies were able to chase the huge indian totals successfully.. So please view the game objectively and keep your big mouth shut.. We need to improve and we need to improve big-time on the bowling and feilding aspects of the game.. Cheers, Manish.

Name: rakesh
Message: yes its very poor bowling.

Name: raj
Message: No way close to the world champions Australia

Name: S Vasu Krishna
Message: I feel the bowlers who can delever such bowls which cannot be predicted by the batsman, off spin or leg spin or yorker are the ones who will do better.I think u can call it Tricky Bowling.kumble, harbhajan are capable of doing it well.i wish if they can improve it further.

Name: Samuel
Message: India is doing good in Batting but not really good in Bowling and Fielding so I would suggest everybody not to tell that Kumble is no good for the team Kumble is one of India's best bowlers and he has experience and thats the key

Name: Prashant
Message: I think so Khan, Srinath and Agarkar and Harbhajan should play

Name: sachin patil
Message: if zahir khan in well fitness he will in full swing

Name: Manoj Joseph
Message: As all we have been seing recently, the Indian bowling not as good as it looks even in pitches at home! Absence of Zaheer Khan could be reason at top of it, but, what about the likes of Kumble, Srinath, Nehra & party. We should learn to pitch the ball at the right spot to take wickets or contain runs in the one-dayers. Everyday, it is not going to be possible to chase brilliantly the big targets heavily depending on the batsmen. Also, what is happening to the Indian batsmen? Many times, they fail to post a big total when batting first. We need to improve a lot, to give the WC'03 a try even.

Name: Vegin
Message: Yes we do have to bowl well. Its cricket , anything can happen,y b strong on one half and weak on the other. Its a "World Cup" ,not any one pepsi or coke stuff .m This s the Big moment. And we have 2 celebrate it with pride. Gotta show that India has a place where she is recognised throught out the world

Name: musheer ahemad
Message: no,i think the peresent indian team is more strong in batting rather in bowling,we need some good bowler, may be a good leg sppiner

Name: farhan
Message: india has a good bowler zaheer khan, but he cannot do it alone he needs a companion

Name: Sundar
Message: Whoever is selected to bowl, need to bowl to a plan and on the spot right from the first ball. Indian bowlers can do it but only if they are well supported by other teammates on and off the field. Believe in yourselves. Read the mind of your opposition before you bowl the first ball. All the best.

Name: Amrish Soni
Message: There should be matches that simulate the playing conditions like those in SA. The NZ tour ahead of WorldCup will prove to be the real scan of our bowling strength.

Name: Arjun Sawhney
Message: Hello, what i personnaly think that india will have very difficult time to deliver their strength during bowling time.We should have some fast bowlers and decent spinners in order to maintain the smoothness of the "game".

Name: nitin
Message: Zaheer Khan would be at his best

Name: Devu
Message: There is another bowler whom we have forgotten, who doesn't have a godfather like Agarkar, and has fared quite well in fast pitches. Yes, I am talking about Debashish Mohanty. He may not have the pace, but the swing and ability to move the ball effectively in both the directions in a fast pitch would be useful. Also, he has world cup experience, so I think we should give him a break in NZ and see. Experimentation is good.

Name: younus
Message: I believe India must have one more medium pace bowler so then the order will be strong.

Name: Sai Krishnakumar
Message: This isn't even worth a "discussion" man. We're gonna get creamed big time... wait and see. The only way out is if we repeatedly win the toss and opt to chase

Name: anand k
Message: india's bowling side is pretty weak. It is poor and not likely to do favour in world cup.

Name: lucky
Message: Zaheen khans comeback will tighten up the pressure. Javegal srinath needs to improve a little. But overall, having Bhaaji and kartik on side, srinath and khan, we have good chances for world cup.

Name: satish
Message: In my view, India cannot go with the bowling squad that has now. There should be two more pace bowlers(essentially alrounders) to have strong bowling attack.
