Does India have the bowling to do well in the WC?

Message: India does have a pretty decent bowling attack.But it remains to be seen how much our seamers can deliver in S.A.Nehra should pick up form before the proc eedings begin.Agarkar is inconsistent.The fact remains to be seen is who will be picked as the third seamer,Srinath and Zaheer being the first two.Spinners as as good an armoury as any other team has,Harbhajan and Kumble are class acts.They can deliver.Apart from that some juggling needs to be done with the fifth bowler.. Sehwag,Yuvraj,Sachin etc can share 10 to 15 overs. Let's hope the team maintains the form they are currently in and keep our fingers crossed.

Message: I dont think current Indian bowling team strength is enough. Apart from Jaheer Khan & Harbajhan no other Indian bowler is consistent. They are way behind when compared to Australian & South African bowlers. Message: I think that this is not enough, we need some more fast bowlers with a deciplined line and length which can bowl under pressures and avoid extras to be given which we dont want under touch and go time. Message: The key to success in today's cricket is mental & physical fitness and above all the zeal to win. No matter what attack you have the only element required is to back one another and have a fighting spirit, irrespective of result. The Indian bowling attack at WC'03 on SA pitches can work if Zaheer, Srinath and Nehra can combine well and Harbhajan plays the pivotal role of dependable spinner. The Captain can also chip in with few overs as he has a control over his line and length. The Blaster of yesteryears, Sachin can also bowl medium pacers as he did in past, if he feels he can do the same at WC'03. This combination if gets consistent can bring laurels. Further, if the captain and the blaster have a off-day then the part-timers like shewag & yuvraj can bowl out the crucial ten overs otherwise Bangar can bowl his medium pacers. According to me and after looking at the current form of the players, the Indian team that can win/perform well at WC'03 should have: Sourav Ganguly (the Captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid (W/K), V.V.S. Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Harbhajan Singh, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra. Dinesh Mongia (reserve batsman), Parthiv Patel/Ajay Ratra (reserve w/k), Ajit Agarkar, Tinu Yohanan, Sanjay Bangar (reserve bowlers) and Anil Kumble/Murli Kartik (reserve spinner).

Message: Come world Cup and we start to get spree.But this time with the likes of Sehwag,Sachin,Ganguly,Dravid and duo of Kaif/Yuvraj the batting is something Aussies and SouthAfricans must be worrying to. But the Bowling seems to have some concern. Looking at the History and recent performance of Indian Bowlers on foreign soil especialy on the fast and bouncy wickets there is not much to write. Although the likes of Jaheer ,Srinath alongwith Harbhajan can give thunders to any team on there day but what indian bowlers lack is consistency,also there is not much of venom in supporting bowlers ,lack of discipline and also the major concern lack of attitude are the foremost hinderances in Indian bowling. Although a very much heartier supporter of the indian team i still can say will the indian bowlers do it. the question mark still resembles.

Message: Retain Zaheer, Srinath and Nehra in the first line seamers list. Make them understand that accuracy (like McGrath or Pollock) should be their armoury if they would like to be a part of the team for world cup. If JP Yadav or Bangar could be groomed well for the Word Cup as bowling allrounders nothing like that. Indian think tank cannot afford a second specialist spinner on the SA pitches. They can use part-time spinners abundantly available in the current team.

Message: Srinath and Zaheer are the only two attacking bowlers India has. Agarkar and Nehra are very expensive most of the times and Harbajan is a useful one to have. Kumble's performance overseas has not been good so far. So, India's bowling strength falls short of what is needed to win the world cup.

Message: you can see a very good bowler in Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh and not to forget our most experienced bowler Srinath.Apart from them there are none other bowlers who could better them.India should find a quality allrounder who could do this job.Sanjay Banger could do this job.He has been bowling well and in flat wickets like South Africa he could be more useful.Unless India finds a good bowler,India cannot win the World Cup.It was allrounders who did the job in 1983 World Cup.And to win this world cup,india has to train Sanjay Banger. Message: The weakest part of indian cricket is the bowling and especially pace attack over the years.Right now we have very few(fast)bowlers who can destroy the opposition. As SA wickets are not conducive for spin, i think harbhajan and kumble can't take many wickets. All of india's hopes are resting on Zaheer only with srinath growing old.Nehra isn't that promising.And agarkar is not a bowler at all, the best thing the selectors can do is not selecting him. I think india is waisting orecious time by not exerimenting with bowlers.Tinu, jp yadav, balaji etc should be given the chance. Keeping all these points certainly india's bowling attack is not best in the world cup.

Message: The indian bowling of course has the potential,which they have proved in recent times as well,but in regards to the world cup,it all depends upon the consistency of the bowlers as they have to be a lot disciplined,attacking and at the same time,economical as well.Zaheer has been bowling well and, just like mcgrath,has been able to win mind games against batsmen which is quite an achievement for an indian quickie.Srinath has a lot of experience to rely upon,he has been the spear head of the indian pace battery for nearly a decade,agarkar's consistency does fluctuates but is really capable of taking wickets,ashish nehra is no doubt a quality bowler and can make the batsmen work hard for runs he just needs to settle down quickly in to this groove ,once set he can be on a song,harbhajan is a quality off spinner...no doubts...and if compared to any world cup bowling attacks india has ever had,this is the best....

Message: I think that India should must one more fast strike bowler other than Zaheer Khan. Because Other than Zaheer Khan, No any fast bowler get success in recent cricket matches. Spinners are well perform in all times and at all places mostly Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble. Ohter than those, Sachin, Ganguly, Yuvraj, and Sehwag may also perform well on many times. Message: I am very much happy that our guys are performing well in terms of batting. But bowling ?? Still india lacks a good consistent bowler. If one puts the pressure on one end the other releases the pressure in the other end. So india definitely needs a dozen of confident and consistent bowlers to win the world cup. You cannot afford to pick up new bowlers now. But the train the guys like zaheer, nehra, srinath etc on how to maintain their concentration. It is the attitude and dedication that matters winning most.

Message: Does India have the bowling to do well in the WC? In One Word: NO! Indian team will need to do a lot of experimenting with bowlers at this stage to pick the best of the them. This can be done by looking to the Ranji trophy participants from whom good bowlers can be picked and experimented with. We have the New Zealand tour to look forward to, to do that. Their conditions will be pretty similar to South Africa in terms of bounce of the pitch. Most of all an effective long-term strategy is to to 'invest' in the art of bowling. We need to do a military-like training for 10-15 young (17-20 yr olds) potential good bowlers and put them through rigorous routines. Only then we can expect good tough bowlers.
