The Bangla Bomber

Ashraful announced himself on the international stage, scoring a century in his first Test, at the tender age of 16.

He was picked as a specialist leg-spinner for the second Test against Sri Lanka in September 2001, but ended up playing a great innings, that made him the cynosure of all eyes.

"It was a great feeling to score a century in your first Test, and that too playing away from home," he said in an exclusive interview to rediff.com in March.

Not only was the innings fantastic, but the way he handled the Sri Lankan spinners, especially Muthiah Muralitharan, amazed everyone.

'I did not have problems against Murali and played him easily,' he said.
