Court rejects CBI's objections in Ayodhya case

Rejecting the preliminary objection raised by the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court today accepted various criminal revision petitions in the Ayodhya demolition case and held that the accused stood charged under different sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Justice Jagdish Bhalla of the bench, who had reserved order on the issue about two months ago, pronounced that there was not an iota of doubt left that the revisionists had already been charged, a fact which was clear from the language of the operative portion of the impugned trial court Judge Jagdish Prasad Srivastava's order of September 9,1997.

The accused include Union Home Minister Lal Kishinchand Advani, Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, besides many important leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena.
