Trinamul concludes seat-sharing talks
with BJP in WB

However, the parties remained silent over the number of seats the TC had conceded to the BJP.

"There has been an adjustment of seats with the BJP for the coming Assembly elections. We are happy with the outcome," Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee told newspersons after the talks lasting about an hour.

Parrying a question on the number of seats her party had conceded to the BJP, the Trinamul Congress chief said, "The list will be out soon. You can find it there."

Asked about the JMM's claim that the TC had agreed to concede 15 seats to it, Banerjee said seats would be adjusted on the basis of discussions.

On the issue of an understanding with the Congress over a one-is-to-one contest against the ruling Left Front, she said a straight contest was necessary to defeat the Front.

"But time is short. We cannot wait endlessly for a party to take a decision," she said.

WBPCC chief Pranab Mukherjee had on Friday held a meeting with Banerjee in Calcutta, but the outcome of the meeting was not known.

He, however, told a rally on Saturday, "We want a tie-up with Banerjee, but first she has to come out of the NDA and dump the communal BJP."

Asked whether there would be a joint manifesto of the Trinamul Congress and BJP, Banerjee said that there would be a common manifesto of the recently-formed front of which both parties were constituents.

Expressing satisfaction over seat-sharing talks with the TC, BJP state president Asim Ghosh said that his party would fight the ruling Left Front in the elections under the 'courageous leadership' of Banerjee.

Besides Banerjee and Ghosh, BJP state vice-president Muzaffar Khan was also present at the meeting.
