Prime accused in Ghising attack arrested

Gorkha Liberation Organisation chief Chhatre Subba, the prime accused in the recent attack on GNLF supremo Subash Ghising, was arrested by the special investigating team from a place near the Indo-Nepal border on Saturday, official sources said.

The sources said Subba was produced before a local court in Siliguri and remanded to police custody.

The police had been looking for Subba for quite some time after security forces busted a training camp inside a dense forest in Kalimpong sub-division of Darjeeling district.

Subba, who reportedly masterminded the attack on Ghising, was hiding in Nepal. The West Bengal government brought pressure upon the Nepalese government through the Centre for Subba's arrest and the subsequent handover.
